Went into junior classes today
Important to remember I as  teacher have to go with what my kids need.

Examples of children’s writing were up on the screen or board.

Child’s writing displayed onscreen and used it as a next step for the children.

Show and tell them why using your whiteboard, so kids are always doing, writing should be a busy time when modelling and scaffolding.

Teacher directed learning

We will know who’s learning by: Suggestion for Writing lessons need to be ‘doing’ times, with no student as a passenger.  Use of whiteboards then each child is having their turn.

Children on the floor...are they engage?Or is it just the few children who pop their hands up. Writing needs to be an active task for everyone.

Reading and writing float on a sea of oral language. Lots of time to talk in scaffolding time then writing in silence.

Making connections of reading and writing using a well known author Roald Dahl.

Wait time crucial

Need to talk less of as a teacher let kids flounder -

Clear Li’s for each lesson only focus on that.

Clear expectations such as Yr 5 - 2 pages, Year 6 - 3 pages

Teach paragraphing - lessons on introduction

Lots of Modelling of writing

Using examplars  and  models to give examples

Maths talk- ‘what do you think about that?’

Unpacking words

Lots of writing in books

What do ‘authors’ do?  Making connections

Using the Digital screen to engage

Writing gallery

Wait time crucial
